The Art of Success site was designed to present an engaging mix of content in a user-friendly format.  Please let us know how you like it!   Below are some tips to make your browsing experience more pleasant and productive.

The correct or optimum monitor and screen settings on your computer are crucial for ensuring a pleasant viewing experience (not just for this site but for all your web browsing). The sections below provide some useful tips and instructions.

As we update the site pages periodically, please clear your browser cache to ensure that you are viewing the latest version of all site pages. This applies to all sites on the web, so it is a good practice to clear your browser cache (and your cookies) periodically.

Site Design

On every page, the beveled vertical box on the left of your screen provides a quick overview of the contents of the page as well as direct links to related pages.

If for any reason the Graphical Drop-down Menus at the top of your screen do not work, (they require Javascript capable browsers with Javascript not turned off), you can navigate the site using the text links at the bottom or the textual Site Map here.

Please feel free to send us your comments and suggestions about the site design.

Monitor / Display Settings for Best Viewing

To ensure that you are able to view and enjoy our site (and other sites on the web) properly, it is very important to check and optimize your monitor and browser settings.

The following settings will improve your browsing experience at all sites.

Screen Area (Resolution): XGA i.e. 1024 x 768 pixels

Color: 24 or 32 bit color

Monitor Refresh Frequency: 75Hz or more

Monitor Contrast: Generally at or near Maximum

Monitor Brightness: Usually 35-45% of Maximum

Browser Settings

Ensure that the "Text Size" setting is at Normal, 100% or Medium.

Remove any "Toolbars" at the top that you do not use regularly - that will increase your screen area and let you see more of the web page.  Can be done from the View - Toolbars menu option.

Periodically clear your browser cache (For Firefox/Netscape: Tools - Options - Cache - Clear).  Or to put it in another way, delete your "temporary files".

This site was optimized for the best browser in the market right now - Firefox!

Get Firefox!                              Get Firefox!

Firefox recommended - it's a revolutionary, feature rich, highly rated browser that has been created by the Mozilla Foundation (a non-profit leader of the open source movement.) You will be pleasantly surprised when you try it! It's very stable, and rarely a target of hacker or virus attacks.  And yes, it's FREE.

Netscape 6.0 or IE 5.5 or higher should work as well.

Please consult your computer manuals for the above settings. Here, for your convenience, are some quick instructions for those reasonably familiar with their computer. It is definitely worth the time to ensure that you have the right settings - for all your web browsing and your other computer work as well!

Screen Area (Resolution) and
Color Settings for CRT Monitors/LCD Displays

Most monitors and displays are capable of XGA resolution i.e. 1024 by 768 pixels (Screen Area) and 16, 24 or 32 bit color. That has been true for many years now. However, in a lot of cases, the settings are still at 800 x 600 (reducing your viewing area quite a bit) and at 8 bit color. To check you settings and correct them, minimize all windows and right click anywhere on your desktop - then click on Properties. [You can also go through the Control Panel and click on Display / Monitor Settings].

When you go to the last tab called Settings, you will be able to see the Color and Screen Area settings. Setting the Color to at least 16bit (preferably 24bit Color to view the rich colors that your monitor is capable of) and the Screen Area at 1024 x 768 will greatly enhance your viewing experience.

Contrast, Brightness and
Refresh Frequency Settings for CRT Monitors

For CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, there are a few more settings that can greatly improve the display and ease the strain on your eyes. The most overlooked one is Vertical Refresh Frequency - which causes flicker that leads to eyestrain and headaches.

In the same Properties Dialog Box - Settings Tab (where you navigated in the earlier section), click on Advanced, go to the Monitor Tab, then select 75Hz from the Refresh Frequency dialog box.

Brightness and Contrast controls are usually on the front of the monitor itself. Adjust them as recommended using the Gray Scale below - you should be able to see all the shades of gray (about 1/2 inch wide blocks). Finally, make sure the overall picture is pleasing to your eyes, tweaking the settings a little bit if necessary.
